EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

THE POSITION:
The purpose of role is to assist in the maintenance and support of Council’s Information Technology systems. To help ensure that hardware, software, and networks function smoothly by providing technical support to staff, troubleshooting issues, and learning how to manage IT resources effectively.
With AlburyCity community at the centre of everything we do, Information Management and Technology Team (IM&T) is focused on creating and sustaining an innovative Information technology culture as one dynamic team. The position is located across the IT Operations and IT Service Desk Teams. Supported by the Project Delivery, Business Systems and Corporate Information, the team delivers the full range of client facing desktop and software services.
Position will work on a rotational basis between IT Service Desk and IT Operations teams.



Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under direction, assist in the following:

  • Work alongside experienced IT staff to gain hands-on experience in a broad range of support scenarios.
  • Provide support to users experiencing IT issues, including hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Respond to support tickets, emails, and phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff as needed.
  • Actively participate in training sessions and development opportunities to build knowledge of IT systems and best practices.
  • Perform a range of technical operations across the IT Infrastructure, IT Network and IT End Point teams to gain experience in each discipline performing basic monitoring of system performance, administration and changes.
  • Maintain IT Assets Register, IT Wiki and documentation of workplace procedures
  • Ensure that confidentiality and integrity are maintained
  • Perform other tasks or duties that contribute to the team’s goals as directed by your Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines.
  • This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
  • This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
  • This position requires enrolment in and completion of a Certificate III in Information Technology as part of an AlburyCity traineeship. Enrolment will be organised by the Our People Team. The study component of the course will be primarily completed outside standard working hours of the position.
  • This position is for a temporary period of up to 2.5 years.
  • This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day – depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
  • This position requires evidence of a current Australian National Police Check.
  • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
  • This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots as required.

To be considered eligible for this position:

  • An applicant must not have 50% or more of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed.
  • The recruitment of an AlburyCity Trainee is based on the assumption of no/limited industry skills or knowledge and is not based on age.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers/servers or software applications and the application of technology to solve problems
  • Demonstrated good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated effective time management

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Class C Drivers Licence

EXPERIENCE:

  • General IT Knowledge understanding hardware and software and a passion for how technology can help solve problems

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems and applications
  • Sound knowledge of mobile phone technologies
  • Sound knowledge of PC hardware and associated peripherals
